From the Santa Fe Team

  • A half hour theatre style reading is being developed based on the stories of three survivors.
  •  The mayor is coming to speak
  • NOW will be doing the Clothes Line Project outside and attendees will have an opportunity to create a T-Shirt in memory of a domestic violence victim and add it to the Clothes Line.
  • Organizations that relate to domestic violence will have tables and have three minutes to share about their organization in the theatre.  So far we have 15 tables signed up.

From the Espanola Team

  •  The program will begin with a Native American blessing
  • Directly following the “Die In” which will be done outside participants will release a white balloon in memory of people who have lost their life to domestic violence.
  • Teenage dancers are working with their teacher to create a dance to poetry about courage.

From the Salt Lake City Team

  • The “Die In” will be part of a program presented by the Gun Violence Prevention Center of Utah called Swords to Plowshares.  
  • Authors of the book Beating Guns: Hope for People Who Are Weary of Violence will be speaking and demonstration how they turn a gun into a garden tool.
  • High School Students that are part of a group March for Our Lives will be participating along with some older adults.

From the New York Team

  • Mourning Loss/Celebrating Survivalwill feature dancers, an actor, storyteller and musician held at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery.
  • Three different dance companies will be presenting pieces. A new piece of choreography by Gabriela Estrada performed by Ivanka Figueroa titled: Ni Una Carmen Más! / Not a Single Carmen More!
  • Sonali Skandan and the Vissi Dance Company will also be performing.
  • Storyteller Regina Ress, organizer of the day, will tell a story along with the participation of actor Joy Kelly. Jeannine Otis, musical director of St Mark’s Church will sing.

From the Dallas Team

  • They will be holding their event at the Lorna Jane Studio in Plano, TX. From 4:30 – 6:30.  
  • They are having food, music, art display, guest speakers, a self-defense and dance demonstration given by women for women!!
